SHOOT Magazine has featured Chelsea Directors David Gordon Green in their feature on Sundance 2013, about filmmakers with ties to the commercial industry!

Check out an excerpt below, and the full article here!

"...Director David Gordon Green of production house Chelsea--and who helmed this year's Chrysler Super Bowl spot "It's Halftime in America"--finds his Prince Avalanche, which he also scripted, in the Premieres showcase. The film centers on two highway road workers who spend the summer of 1988 away from their city lives. The isolated landscape becomes a place of misadventure as the men find themselves at odds with each other and the women they left behind. Cast: Paul Rudd, Emile Hirsch.
"Oscar-winning documentarian (Taxi to the Dark Side) Alex Gibney, also repped by Chelsea for spots, has his We Steal Secrets: The Story of WikiLeaks in the Documentary Premieres section. Alex Gibney's Harrowing Documentary "Mea Maxima Culpa: Silence in the House of God" Opens today at New York Film Forum and Santa Monica's Leammle 4-plex

New York, NY, November 16, 2012 - Chelsea's prolific documentarian and commercial filmmaker Alex Gibney's scathing expose of abuse and the Catholic Church opens today, November 16, 2012 at New York's Film Forum, and Santa Monica, California's Laemmle Monica 4-Plex, for a limited two-week engagement. The film, which had its world-premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival this year, has quickly been shortlisted by critics and audiences alike as an apt Oscar contender in the documentary category. Justin Chang (Variety) called it "...a powerful, necessary contribution to a chilling body of reportage that, one senses by film's end, has just begun to take stock of the human costs of a monstrous conspiracy." Anthony Kaufman of Screen Daily calls Mea Maxima Culpa, which translates from Latin as "my most grievous fault," "... powerful and affecting."

For more information in New York, visit Film Forum: http://www.filmforum.org/movies/more/mea_maxima_culpa#trailer

For more information in Santa Monica, visit Laemmle: http://www.laemmle.com/viewtheatre.php?thid=3

Mea Maxima Culpa: Silence in the House of God , an HBO Documentary Film, will see television distribution on HBO in 2013. The film was written and directed by Alex Gibney, produced by Jigsaw Productions and Wider Film Projects in association with HBO Documentary Films, and edited by Sloane Klevin of Union Editorial. Alex Gibney is represented for commercial work by Chelsea.

Chelsea & SS+K Team Up to Produce Two New Obama for America Spots, "Your First Time" Starring and Directed By Lena Dunham and "For All" Directed By Chelsea's David Gordon Green

Please exercise your right to vote.

Find out where to vote in your neighborhood, here.

New York, NY, November 5, 2012 - Chelsea and SS+K have teamed up to produce two new spots for the Obama campaign during these critical last days leading up to the election. Both take a candid approach; Lena Dunham amusingly recounted her "First Time" - voting, that is - while Chelsea Director David Gordon Green's "For All" spot features real voters speaking about their "pledge of allegiance" to Obama's America. Lena proved once again that she speaks with and for her generation, with equal parts wit and incisiveness. Her transparency over her "first time" disarms the viewer with an air of intimacy and humor.

David Gordon Green's "For All," released Sunday, shares the hopes of individuals across a diverse spectrum of American experiences. With their dreams for this next presidential term emblazoned in permanent marker on their hands, the men and women declare their support for Obama's presidency. Green's bold and emblematic imagery, edited by Hank Corwin and Jay Rabinowitz of Lost Planet, coupled with music by Jerome Rossen of Freshmade reinforces the chorus of voices to create a bold new national anthem.

Nadav Kander's "Yangtze - The Long River" Opens this evening at Flowers Gallery New York

We hope you have an opportunity to see Nadav Kander's exhibition, Yangtze - The Long River at the Flowers Gallery in Chelsea, which opens to the public with a reception this evening.

Nadav Kander's Yangtze - The Long River
Oct. 19 - November 24

Opening Reception
Tonight, Thursday Oct. 18 6-8 pm

Flowers Gallery
529 West 20th St
(between 10th & 11th Aves)

From the press release:
Over a period of three years, Nadav Kander made five trips to the banks of China’s Yangtze River, travelling up-stream from mouth to source. Using the river as a metaphor for a world in flux, Kander attempted at every stage of the journey, to relate and reflect the consequences of the incomprehensible and seemingly unnatural pace of development in modern-day China.
Beginning at the coastal estuary, where thousands of ships leave and enter each day, the journey takes us to the renowned suicide bridges, coal mines and the largest dam in the world—the Three Gorges Dam. Further inland we encounter Chongqing, the fastest-growing urban centre on the planet.
Never more than twenty miles from the river, Kander presents a region in the shadow of epic construction projects that surround workers, fishermen, swimmers and even a man washing his motorbike in the river. Figures are dwarfed by landscapes of half completed bridges and colossal Western-style apartment blocks that are rapidly replacing traditional Chinese low-rise buildings and houseboats. Kander conveys the feeling of the weight of the humid air and haze from pollution through muted tones occasionally enlivened by the smallest bright touches of clothing.
In the upper areas of the Yangtze, towards the source on the Tibetan Plane, the dense architecture gives way to mountains – a sparsely populated area where the stream is mostly broken ice and just ankle deep.
The river is embedded in the consciousness of the Chinese, even those separated from it by thousands of miles. It plays a pivotal role in both the spiritual and physical life of the nation. More people live along its banks than live in all the USA—one in every eighteen people on the planet.
Kander responded intuitively to a feeling that China is severing its roots. The resulting landscapes and documentary-inflected fictions weigh the human and environmental cost of China’s often brutal, dehumanizing shift from state-controlled communism to state-sanctioned capitalism. Kander’s China is a country both at the beginning of a new era and at odds with itself, and one that inspired him to create works of sublime, soulful art.

Renowned Photographer / Director Craig Cutler Signs with Chelsea for Exclusive Representation

New York, NY, September 20, 2012 - Chelsea has signed Craig Cutler for exclusive commercial representation. Cutler, a renowned photographer turned director, is known for his conceptual photography, and unwavering commitment to his creative process. He recently completed one of the most disciplined, and impressive projects of his life, entitled CC52. It is a multimedia exhibition in which he created a new piece of photography, film, or mixed media, once a week without exceptions, for 52 weeks.

Craig Cutler
Since the beginning of Craig Cutler's career, when he opened his Soho, New York studio, he has been deeply committed to collaborating with clients to transform ideas into images, and those images into stories. When a client presents Craig with an idea that ignites his imagination, he immediately begins sketching, and it is these initial ruminations on an idea that give rise to the final image, whether static or set in motion, that is ultimately delivered to his clients.

Michael Paterson, Creative Director at Ogilvy & Mather has said that Cutler's "...work pushes the boundaries of commercial photography into the art world." It is this quality that has attracted Chelsea to Craig Cutler. Lisa Mehling, partner and Executive Producer has said, "He has an amazing design aesthetic, and we love the way he's been able to translate that into his directing work. Craig inhabits a rare creative niche in both stills and motion work."

Craig Cutler is represented for photography by Stockland Martel. Cutler's clients range from luxury brands such as Mercedes-Benz and Bombay Gin, to universal brands such as Chase, IBM and Starbucks. His editorial work has been seen within the pages of everything from Bloomberg Businessweek to Bon Appétit, Real Simple and Martha Stewart and his work is held in private collections and has been exhibited at the Carnegie Museum of Pittsburgh. He has earned accolades from PDN, the British One Club, the New York Addy Awards, and others.

Chelsea is committed to creating rich content that is in step with the rapidly evolving demands of today’s top agencies and clients. The company roster is composed of Oscar winners Alex Gibney and Kevin Macdonald, indie standouts David Gordon Green and Christopher Quinn, renowned director/photographer Lauren Greenfield, consummate music and fashion director Charles Mehling, industry all-stars Rick LeMoine, Neil Abramson, Robb Bindler, Bruce Hunt, Nicholas Barker and Gregor Nicholas, KesselsKramer agency founder Johan Kramer, and standout English imports, Colin O’Toole and Jack Cole. Additionally, Chelsea’s strategic alliance with celebrated photography agency Stockland Martel brings the best photographers in print to commercial advertising, and as such, Nadav Kander and Liz Von Hoene complete our accomplished roster.

Chelsea is represented on the East Coast by Denise Blate Roederer, in the Midwest by partners Janice Wagdy and Jim Robison of Janice + Jim Reps, and on the West Coast by Ezra Burke and Kerry Ko of Content Chemics.
